Frederic Township Fire Department
We are pleased to inform everyone that the Frederic Township Fire Department just recently upgraded to Limited Advanced Life Support from Basic Life Support. This is a big step forward for our community. This upgrade has been paid for by a Federal Homeland Security grant. Our community has saved several thousand dollars from not having intercepts from Mobile Medical Response (MMR). The upgrade allows our EMS crews to be able to give IV fluid therapy , D-50 for diabetics (Gluocose), Aprin and Nitro medication for Heart Attack victums, Duo Neb/Albuteral for Difficulty Breathing victums, and allows our crews the ability to intubate in the field. This is a big improvement. Congradulations to the Fire Department for a job well done.
Currently the Fire and EMS Department has 30 employees employed. We have three paramedics, five EMT Specialist, eight EMT Basic's, three Medical First Responders, and four students going to test to become EMT Basics. We are also a combination department so the EMS personnel are also Firefighters. All together we have 17 certified firefighters and there is a firefighter training class coming up soon and we hope to have some more to become trained firefighters. Our average response time for EMS is under 2 minutes during the day and 5 to 10 minutes during the evening and night. Our fire response is about 5 to 10 minutes depending on time of the day or night.
