The Township Supervisor serves on a board that overseas the running of the township. As part of the community’s government, the Township Supervisor’s statutory duties include moderating board and annual meetings, maintaining records of supervisor’s office, allocating a board budget, developing the township budget, and appointing some commission members. He/she may call special meetings, and may appoint a deputy as well as acting as chief assessing officer, secretary to board of review, and township legal agent. They are elected to their post and are therefore viewed as community leaders.
